Sisters of Hope Unique Four Vows

Those within the Order who have professed take vows of obedience to God undertaking a spirit of faith, hope, and love following the example of our Merciful Lord Jesus Christ who was obedient to the will of the Father, of chastity refraining from sexual activity considered immoral to be of service to the sisters who God has brought together, and to hold firm to the monastic way of life through a commitment of love for God’s sake, simplicity as demonstrated by the Son of the Living God, by the Grace of The Holy Ghost, focusing on “adherence to the Lord without distraction” (1 Cor 7:35), seeking a deeper relationship with Christ, and being ever available for service “for the sake of the kingdom of heaven” (Matt 19:12) and reverence of all human life, from conception to natural death. 

 

It is important to note that the Sisters of Hope was the first religious order in the Anglican Communion to have the fourth vow recognizing the reverence of all human life.

Vow of Reverence of Life
The vow of reverence of life states we joyfully commit to honor, support, and affirm of all human life, from conception to natural death. In Jeremiah 1:5 it states, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you…” And as 1 John 4:19, “We love because he first loved us…” We are devoted to living and sharing in the biblical values seen in the culture of life. Our attentiveness is not an issue-driven response to the contempt for human life, but rather, gives voice to truth. The reverence of life, as given by God, speaks to the deepest identity of each person—that you are loved into existence by a God whose image we reflect. It is through this lens that we believe God and God only blesses each person into life at conception and calls us back to Himself in His time. We commit to labor that emphasizes all human life be one of peace, dignity, and love in Our Risen Lord.
